For this collaboration with Mattwell Homes, we had the privilege of designing a luxury kitchen and utility space for a heritage-style new build residence in the picturesque setting of East Horsley. This beautiful home, nestled in a private cul-de-sac, presented the perfect canvas for us to create a kitchen with character and charm while offering modern-day functionality. The project involved blending the timeless elegance of classic design with the conveniences of contemporary appliances and aesthetics, ensuring the kitchen would not only be stunning but also highly practical for the new owners.
The key to this project was harmonising the home’s heritage-style architecture with the expectations of modern living. Mattwell Homes, known for their attention to detail and quality craftsmanship, shared our vision for creating a kitchen that would become a cherished space within the home, perfect for entertaining as well as everyday family life. The open-plan layout seamlessly connected the kitchen with the living and dining areas, encouraging a sense of flow and togetherness in the home’s design.
For the cabinetry, we selected a classic shaker style with antique brass handles to enhance the traditional feel, whilst adding a touch of elegance. Meanwhile, appliances discreetly integrated, provided the functionality and ease that new homeowners desire.
The kitchen island, a centrepiece of the design, was topped with a stunning worktop, expertly crafted with a coved detail, blending into a butchers block station. This provides durable surfaces for cooking and socialising alike. This substantial island not only served as a practical work area but also as a social hub, with seating incorporated for casual dining or a relaxed coffee with friends. The blend of natural materials and clean lines was echoed throughout the space, striking a perfect balance between classic and contemporary elements. The kitchen island is also home to an elegant sink and boiling water tap.
