Et Lorem is proud to announce that our innovative kitchen project, The Nook, has won the prestigious KBSA Kitchen Designer of the Year Over £50k award. Designed by Jamie Harding, Founder and CEO of Et Lorem, this award-winning kitchen is a striking example of how visionary design, technical excellence, and deeply personal touches can come together to create an extraordinary space. This project is more than a kitchen, it is a true reflection of the family’s lifestyle, the architectural character of the home, and Jamie’s ability to design with narrative, emotion, and precision.
A Home with Cinematic Presence
Approaching the property feels a little like stepping into a movie set. This grand eco-home, with its sweeping driveway and ultra-contemporary silhouette, has a presence so bold that Jamie often posed the question: “Would James Bond love it?” This idea became the creative anchor for the entire kitchen design, helping to shape a space that feels luxurious, moody, and effortlessly cool; Yet still deeply practical for a family of six and their much-loved pets.
Inside, the property exudes personality, warmth, and unforgettable views in every direction. The clients had recently relocated from Buckinghamshire to Northamptonshire, and the brief was clear: create a kitchen that would bring friends and family together, host every style of entertaining and withstand the demands of a busy, sociable household.
A Contemporary Vision Brought to Life
Originally, the client envisioned a shaker-style kitchen with exposed brickwork, but as the two-year build progressed, it became evident that a contemporary direction would better complement the architecture. Jamie’s design uses Rotpunkt Sherwood Flamed cabinetry and dramatic Dekton Laurent surfaces to create a sleek, robust, and modern aesthetic.
Integrated Gaggenau appliances, a Quooker tap, and clever zoning ensure that the kitchen performs beautifully whether used for everyday cooking or large gatherings. A generous central island forms the heart of the space, offering both functionality and a welcoming social hub for family and guests.
Technology, Craftsmanship, and Bespoke Detailing
Every detail was meticulously considered. A Kaelo wine cooler and large wine fridge support the clients’ passion for wine collecting. A bespoke Crittall-style glass larder introduces an industrial edge, while remaining practical and visually striking.
One of the design’s standout features is the bespoke Dekton Laurent frame surrounding the Gaggenau ovens, creating a seamless architectural flow. The island’s distinctive 30-degree angled leg mirrors the dynamic lines of the house itself; a subtle but powerful way of tying the kitchen to its surroundings.
Personal storytelling is also woven through the space, most notably through the inclusion of a hand-selected tapestry from the clients’ travels in Singapore. This piece adds cultural richness, warmth, and a touch of unexpected charm.
A Space Designed to Be Lived In
This award-winning kitchen isn’t just visually stunning, it’s designed for real life. During a recent weekend of continuous use by friends and family, the kitchen proved its durability, usability, and versatility. The clients shared that the space brings them joy every single day.
Winning the KBSA Kitchen Designer of the Year Over £50k confirms what the family already knew: This is a truly exceptional kitchen. And yes, we think James Bond would feel right at home here too.
